Personal Trainer
 

Function:

To serve as a personal trainer in the recreation program.

Organizational Relationships:

The personal trainer will report directly to the Athletic and Recreation Coordinator.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. To offer free health assessments to the Palmer Community.
  2. To provide exercise programming for clients with in the Palmer Community.
  3. Ability to perform a variety of fitness test.
  4. Train Clients one-on-one.
  5. Write exercise prescriptions for a variety of clients.
  6. Keep a detailed account of all client activity.
  7. Keep a file on all clients in the fitness center.
  8. Hold the responsibility of the equipment in the Fitness Center purchased exclusively for the trainer program.
  9. Hold responsibility of the safety and conduct of all current clients.

Education, Training and Experience

A Personal Trainer must hold certification from one of the following organizations:

  • American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
  • American Council on Exercise (ACE)
  • Certified Strength Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
  • or an education equivalent (such as a college degree in exercise science, exercise physiology, or sports rehabilitation).
  1. A Personal Trainer must have experience working with clients in an exercise or sports rehabilitation setting.
  2. A Personal Trainer must have the ability to perform a variety of fitness tests.
  3. A Personal Trainer must have the ability to train clients one on one.

Communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Campus Recreation includes recreational services, wellness, and club sports.
