Sherri LaShomb, D.C.

A passion for helping athletes takes Dr. Sherri LaShomb to the 2016 Olympics.

When you meet Sherri LaShomb, D.C., ATC, CCSP®, ICCSP, at her practice in Lewiston, N.Y., you immediately see the excitement she has about going to the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A 1988 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic’s main campus in Davenport, Iowa, Dr. LaShomb has devoted her professional life to the field of sports chiropractic.

During the Olympic Games, she’ll be the athletic trainer and chiropractor for the U.S. Taekwondo Team. She started working with USA Taekwondo in 2003, starting with collegiate events in the U.S. then international events. Currently, she takes care of taekwondo athletes on the Collegiate National Team, the Poomsae National Team and the Senior Sparring Team. During the past several years she’s cared for these athletes at about 30 different events, most of them international.

“I treat the athletes for acute and chronic injuries as well as for performance enhancement,” she says. “They keep me pretty busy!”

She says she’s always had a passion for athletes and their overall health and well-being. This passion gave her the drive to use her craft on a larger scale. Since 2002, she’s been an International Certified Chiropractic Sport Science Practitioner and is also a Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner. She’s known throughout the U.S. and worldwide as a sports specialist in chiropractic and has extensive clinical experience as an athletic trainer and chiropractor at competitive games around the globe.

Dr. LaShomb has served as the athletic trainer and chiropractor for USA Taekwondo at the Pan American Olympic Qualifier earlier this year, as well as at the Pan American Games, the World Cup Finals, World Championships and World Poomsae Championships in 2015.

She’s no stranger to taking care of Olympic athletes, either. She provided chiropractic care at the U.S. Track & Field Olympic Trials in 2008 and 2012, the 2002 Winter Olympic Games and the 1996 Summer Olympic Games.

“Going to the Rio Olympics with USA Taekwondo is a wonderful opportunity to represent my practice and the Western New York region as well as nurture my passion for sports chiropractic at this elite level,” she says. “I love caring for these athletes and it’s an exciting journey!”
