“I became a chiropractor because my father and brother are both chiropractors. Growing up, I spent a lot of time in my father’s office. I got to see the benefits of chiropractic and how it truly changed people’s lives.”

Attending Palmer West for her chiropractic education was an easy choice for Dr. Sáenz because her father and brother are both Palmer alumni.

Since Dr. Sáenz graduated last December, she’s been providing chiropractic care alongside her husband, brother-in-law and mother-in-law at Epic Chiropractic and Sports Therapy in Sacramento, California, a practice that was started by her mother-in-law, Linda Shanks, D.C., FACO, 40 years ago.

Epic Chiropractic and Sports Therapy is a practice for the entire family. They focus on women’s health, children, and athletes. Being a part of her husband’s family practice means the world to Dr. Sáenz.

“I have been blessed to come into an established office with amazing doctors and patients. It’s awesome to be able to ask questions and feel supported. I get to work with my husband every day and it is seriously awesome. He’s a fantastic chiropractor, and I’m so grateful to have him supporting me, especially through my first year in practice.”

While Dr. Sáenz may have only graduated a year ago, she continues to pursue new learning opportunities to better her craft.

“I have been able to focus on learning more about my passion which is women’s health.”

“I’m going to continue my studies through the ICPA by getting my CACCP. I’ve focused a lot of my time on learning about pelvic floor health, postpartum, and prenatal care, so I can better serve women and mothers coming into my office. It’s my goal as a chiropractor to be a source of comfort, support, and provide wellness education for them during this time.”

Looking at the path that Dr. Sáenz has taken to get where she is now, it’s all been worth it.

“I’m most proud of the fact that every day I get to teach people about health and the amazing healing powers their body possesses. I’m proud that I strive to create an environment where my patients feel they can talk to me about anything and feel heard.”

Dr. Sáenz offers a few words of wisdom to current chiropractic students and those thinking about chiropractic school.

“DO IT! It is such an awesome profession, and we need more of us out there teaching about wellness and health. Times are changing all around us and people are looking within to heal. We can help be a guide,” she said.

“The journey is so worth it but always remember to take care of yourself throughout school. Mental health is important. You can be the best chiropractor out there, but if you don’t feed your soul first, you won’t be able to give back to your patients or loved ones to your fullest potential. Ask questions, get excited, and always keep your hunger for learning.”

Palmer College of Chiropractic is the first and largest chiropractic college. More chiropractors have graduated from Palmer than any other chiropractic institution. Interested in learning more about attending Palmer College? Visit palmer.edu.
