Faculty Borrowing Privileges

Palmer Faculty have access to all Palmer library's resources on and off campus. Check-out details are below.

Books

There is no limit on the number of items checked out at one time.

Reference materials may be checked out for a short term depending on the demand for the material.

Journals

Journals may be checked out for one day, with one renewal permitted.

There is no limit on the number of items checked out at one time.

Audio/Visual (A/V)

Circulating A/V may be checked out for one week.

A maximum of ten A/V items may be checked out at one time.

Non-circulating items must be used in-house, unless it is for classroom or club use.

Staff Borrowing Privileges

Palmer Staff have access to all Palmer library's resources on and off campus. The check-out details are below.

Books

Books can be checked out for six months with one renewal permitted.

Palmer staff are allowed thirty (30) items at any one time.

Reference materials may be checked out for a period of one day depending on the demand for the material.

Scholarly Journals

Scholarly journals may be checked out for one day, with one renewal.

Palmer staff are allowed twenty (20) items checked out at any one time.

Leisure Journals

Leisure journals do not circulate. These are for in-house use only.

Audio/Visual (A/V)

Circulating A/V may be checked out for one week.

Non-circulating items must be used in-house, unless it is for classroom or club use.

Reserves

The Palmer Health Sciences Library Reserve Service allows faculty to designate materials that are needed by multiple users as part of a course or a club and have the materials placed in the Reserve section of the Library. Reserve items carry shorter check-out periods and larger fines than other library materials.

  • Only faculty members may place items on Reserve. Clubs wishing to place items on Reserve must get the signature of their faculty advisor and class president.
  • The list of materials to be placed on Reserve must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the beginning of the trimester or quarter.
  • Each course or club may have up to four (4) photocopies of an article on Reserve each term.
  • A photocopied article may remain on Reserve for one term, for one course. Additional use requires that copyright permission be obtained from the publisher. Copyright permission may be procured from the Copyright Clearance Center at www.copyright.com.
  • Material from the Reference collection will only be placed on Reserve if the library owns a second copy.
  • Original materials obtained through interlibrary loan cannot be placed on Reserve.

How to Submit Reserve Requests

Please use the forms below to submit reserve requests to the library. You can submit it in person, via inter-office mail or electronically. We will contact you if we have any questions or concerns about your reserves submission. We will also contact you when your item(s) have been processed and are available for student use.

Off-Campus Access

When you are on campus, you have access to nearly all the Palmer Library resources with no additional passwords needed. When you are off campus, however, you must log in to the subscription resources through Palmer's proxy server.

Enter the username and password that you use to access the Portal and e-mail. Once you click on Submit, you will be passed through to the resource you wanted. You need only do this once per library session.
