When Paul Hurst made the decision to leave his first career behind and pursue chiropractic, it wasn’t a whim — it was a mission. Inspired by his own transformative experiences with chiropractic care, Paul chose Palmer Florida to begin this next chapter.
Why Palmer? In his words, “Palmer Florida has a longstanding history of success in chiropractic…with a singular focus to train, develop, and transform students into chiropractic doctors.”
Paul isn’t alone in this bold pursuit. Like many Palmer students, he brings a unique background — a degree in business administration from Colorado State and a personal belief that chiropractic has the power to change lives. Now in his third trimester, Paul is already seeing that belief take root in the classroom, the clinic, and the community.
Paul credits Palmer with shaping his development not just as a student, but as a future doctor of chiropractic. “Professors are eager for my success,” he says. “Fellow students are helpful and encouraging. We’re all pursuing similar paths with unique passions and goals.”
He’s not just observing chiropractic — he’s living it. Palmer’s dynamic environment gives students hands-on access to labs, clubs, and clinics from the very start. For Paul, those experiences — whether through TOAL, peer tutoring, or campus organizations — provide daily motivation and a clear vision of the doctor he’s becoming.
A demanding course load hasn’t slowed Paul’s momentum — it’s refocused it. He’s balancing family life with academic life, leaning into both with intention. “My wife and kids are incredibly supportive. They help me study and make me take necessary breaks,” he says. “It requires constant assessment and balancing, depending on the needs.”
That balance is exactly what Palmer fosters — an environment where students are supported in every area of their lives. Paul finds belonging not just in shared coursework, but in the relationships, mentorship, and opportunities around him. “There are clubs, activities, intramurals, tutoring, resources — pursuits for any student who wants to grow.”
Paul is deeply aware that chiropractic is more than a career — it’s a calling. And Palmer is preparing him to answer that call with confidence. From mastering the human body to preparing for boards and preceptorships, Paul knows he’s being equipped for impact. “The curriculum is designed to ensure success… and the extracurriculars offer chances to learn, network, and explore the profession.”
His advice to new students? “Learning is a process and takes time. Jump in, meet people, ask questions, stay involved, and be patient with yourself and others. Remain through the challenges and keep the end goal in mind. Be friendly, have fun and trust the Lord.”
