Meet Lisa Klaus, D.C., one of our Faculty Clinicians at Palmer Clinics. Dr. Klaus attended Palmer College of Chiropractic and graduated in 1999.
WHY DID YOU BECOME A DOCTOR OF CHIROPRACTIC?
I always knew I wanted to work in the medical field, but didn’t initially know what to pursue. My journey led me to chiropractic following a lower back injury sustained while playing collegiate volleyball. Struggling to find effective treatment, I was introduced to chiropractic care. This experience not only alleviated my pain but also ignited a passion for the field and its underlying philosophy.
WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE FOR PATIENTS?
It’s important to focus on small, sustainable steps toward better movement and posture. Don’t feel pressured to change everything overnight. Consistency with regular visits can make a real difference over time. Be open with your chiropractor about what’s working and what’s not. Your care should feel collaborative and personalized. Most importantly listen to your body because healing looks different for everyone and progress often comes in stages.
WHAT IS YOUR #1 ADVICE FOR STUDENT INTERNS:
As a student intern, focus on actively learning from every patient interaction-each case offers valuable clinical insights. Ask questions, seek feedback from your mentors, and observe their techniques and communication styles. Embrace hands-on experience, knowing that real-world practice will refine your classroom knowledge. Most importantly, build strong patient rapport, as trust is key to effective care.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT BEING A CHIROPRACTOR?
My favorite thing is building meaningful relationships with patients. I love the one-on-one interactions where I can listen, understand their concerns and care for their individual needs. Treating entire families is especially rewarding. It is incredibly satisfying to help people move better, feel better and helping them get back to doing what they love.
