“Opportunities abound at Palmer. It’s a transformative experience, you simply have to take the initiative.” – Andrew Wanke, Palmer student
At Palmer College of Chiropractic, students don’t have to choose between efficiency and excellence; they get both. Through programs like Palmer’s Bachelor of Science Completion Program, students can begin their Doctor of Chiropractic journey while finishing their undergraduate degree, saving time and tuition while accelerating their path to practice. It’s just one example of how Palmer, the place where chiropractic began, continues to propel the future of the profession.
An Accelerated Path to Chiropractic
For fourth-trimester student Andrew Wanke, that forward momentum started early.
After graduating from high school in Davenport, Iowa, Andrew began his undergraduate studies before transitioning into Palmer’s Bachelor of Science completion program. By completing two trimesters of undergraduate coursework at Palmer and then entering the Doctor of Chiropractic program, he was able to streamline his education and move more quickly toward his career goals.
“I knew I wanted to become a chiropractor, and Palmer made it possible to get started sooner,” Andrew says. “It’s a huge advantage to be able to work toward both degrees at the same time.”
A Purpose Rooted in Experience
Andrew’s decision to pursue chiropractic was rooted in personal experience. At just 10 years old, he saw firsthand how chiropractic care transformed his mother’s life after years of chronic back pain. What had once limited her daily activity was replaced with renewed strength and mobility — an impact that left a lasting impression.
“As I got older, I experienced those benefits myself,” Andrew says. “As someone who lifts regularly, I’ve dealt with back strain, and chiropractic care always helped me recover quickly. That’s when I realized how powerful it is.”
When it came time to choose a school, the answer was clear. Encouraged by his hometown chiropractor and reinforced by others in the profession, Andrew consistently heard the same message: Palmer is the leader in chiropractic education. After attending a Palmer 360 event and experiencing the campus firsthand, he understood why.
