Flight Attendant turned Chiropractic Student: Ramania Brown’s Journey to Palmer Florida

Florida student Ramania Brown portrait. At Palmer College of Chiropractic, students arrive with different stories, but they’re united by a shared purpose: to heal, to lead and to move the profession forward. For Ramania Brown, that journey has been defined by resilience, reinvention and an unwavering commitment to helping others.

A Global Perspective Meets a Purpose-Driven Career
Originally from Kingston, Jamaica, Ramania Brown’s path to chiropractic may not have been traditional, but it was intentional. Before enrolling at Palmer Florida, she earned her bachelor’s degree, becoming the first in her family to graduate from college. She then spent more than a decade working as a flight attendant, a role that shaped her ability to connect with people, adapt under pressure and navigate complex environments with confidence.

Things took another turn when she decided to pursue chiropractic, a calling rooted in her desire to help people heal and live better lives. As a transfer student, Ramania brought both life experience and perspective to Palmer, where she quickly found an environment aligned with her goals.

Why Palmer Florida: A Place to Grow and Belong
For Ramania, choosing Palmer Florida was about more than academics. It was about finding a place where she could thrive.

“I chose Palmer Florida because of its strong reputation, hands-on learning and supportive environment,” she explains. “I felt a strong sense of community and knew it was the right place to grow into the doctor I want to become.”

That sense of belonging is something she says defines the Palmer experience. From the faculty and staff to classmates, Ramania is grateful for the encouragement and connection.

“My experience at Palmer has been amazing,” she says. “The instructors truly go above and beyond to help students succeed, and there is always someone encouraging you. Combined with the unrelenting support from my mom, my collective support system has made a huge difference in my journey.”

Strength Through Adversity
Ramania’s path to chiropractic has not been without challenge. During her first week of chiropractic school, she experienced the unexpected loss of her sister, something that profoundly shaped her path forward.

Rather than stepping away, she leaned into her purpose. That experience inspired her to write Positive Adjustments, a book created to uplift and encourage chiropractic students navigating the demands of the program.

Her story reflects one of Palmer’s defining strengths: the ability to support students not just academically, but personally, equipping them with the resilience and mindset needed to succeed in a demanding profession.

Balancing School, Leadership and Life
Like many Palmer students, Ramania balances a full schedule of academics, work and personal commitments. Through it all, she’s remained deeply involved on campus, serving as a business ambassador and participating in student organizations like Student American Black Chiropractic Association (SABCA).

These experiences have strengthened her leadership skills while reinforcing Palmer’s commitment to preparing students for real-world success.

“Being involved has helped me build connections, grow professionally and feel more connected to the chiropractic community,” she says.

Self-Reflection and Ramania’s Advice
Through hands-on learning, mentorship and a rigorous curriculum, Ramania says Palmer has helped her build confidence both in and out of the classroom. From strengthening clinical skills to developing communication and leadership abilities, her experience reflects Palmer’s focus on preparing students for the realities of practice.

As for future students, Ramania recommends taking it one day at a time and not comparing your journey to anyone else’s. “Chiropractic school is demanding, but staying organized, asking for help and believing in yourself all make a huge difference,” Ramania advises.

Preparing for Practice and a Life of Impact
Looking ahead, Ramania is focused on building a practice rooted in connection and care. A practice that reflects both her personal beliefs and the philosophy she’s embraced at Palmer.

“My goal is to become a successful chiropractor who positively impacts people’s lives through compassionate, patient-centered care,” she shares. “I want people to feel seen, supported and hopeful.”
