Palmer students have access to all Palmer Library's resources on and off campus. With a Palmer ID, students may check-out the following items:
Books have a four-week circulation period with two one-week renewals. Palmer students are allowed 30 items at any one time.
Undergraduate and D.C. students must use scholarly journals in-house.
Graduate students may check-out scholarly journals for one day with one renewal allowed. A limit of 20 items may be checked out at any one time.
Circulating AV may be checked out for one week, with one renewal. Non-circulating items must be used in-house.
Reserve items may be checked out for a three-hour period. A 25 cent per hour fine will be imposed on all late material. A $5 per hour fine will be imposed for overdue iPads.
The check-out period for circulating models is one day, except on the weekend (the due date will be the following class day - usually Monday). There are no renewals on circulating models. A total of three (3) non-identical items may be checked out at one time.
What are course reserves?
Library Course Reserves broaden the scope of your courses by allowing faculty to designate materials that are part of the course requirements and need to be accessible to multiple users. Materials on reserve may include:
- Copies of your required textbooks
- Extra credit assignments
- Practice exams
- Supplemental reading (articles, book chapters, etc.)
- Audio/Visual Items
Because of their high demand, these items have shorter checkout periods and higher fines.
At all three Palmer Campuses, most reserves are assigned a three-hour checkout and are assessed 25 cent per hour per item if overdue.
Other Items on Reserve
In addition to the specific items your faculty place on reserve for your courses, the library also has the following items on reserve:
- Real human bones
- Plastic bones and models
- Required textbooks
- Technique equipment, specifically nervoscopes, reflex hammers, and inclinometers that may be used outside the library. Check your local campus for availability.
NBCE Reference Texts
All NBCE reference texts are kept in a designated area in each of the Palmer libraries.
When you are on campus, you have access to nearly all the Palmer Library resources with no additional passwords needed. When you are off campus, however, you must log in to the subscription resources through Palmer's proxy server.
Accessing the Proxy Server
When you click on any of the services where access has been activated, a login screen will appear.
For your Username, enter your Palmer e-mail address.
