Palmer Florida Interns Provide Care for Homeless and At-Risk Veterans

This past weekend, a handful of student interns from the Clinic were able to attend this year’s Stand Down event in Tallahassee, Florida. This is an event for homeless and at-risk veterans to provide them services to help them be successful and “stand down” to homelessness.

This year Clinician Amanda Vozar, D.C., and eight students provided complimentary chiropractic care to 91 patients.

Samantha Saikalis, Quarter 10, reflects on her experience. “This weekend was an amazing experience. I was pretty nervous going into it because I just didn’t know what to expect and we were treating a totally different population than the average clinic patient, but I’m so thankful for this opportunity. We had a ton of patients and had no choice but to be efficient with our mini exams and it was a great learning experience. The best part was the people we met along the way. Every person that came to us was so genuine and appreciative of what we were doing and how willing we were to listen. I would do it again in a heartbeat.”

Dr. Vozar adds, “It’s all-encompassing to help these people get the care and services they need after serving their country.”
